Cala Domestica

The south-western coast of the province of Cagliari hides another corner of wild aspect: between Buggerru and Nebida, in fact, the limestone cliffs of Cala Domestica stretch for many kilometers.

DISCOVERING

Cala Domestica

The only true cove in this area, it is divided in turn into a larger beach and a smaller one, called La Caletta.

At the main beach there are the ruins of buildings dependent on the nearby abandoned mines: once a small railway arrived here for the transport of minerals, which were loaded onto ships.

La Caletta, accessible through a tunnel dug by miners, reveals a small beach well sheltered from the northern winds. Opposite, in the limestone and bare peninsula stands a Spanish tower, which dominates the entire coast.

An environment of undoubted interest, where all the wild charm of the Sardinian coasts still manifests itself with unchanged charm. it is the cove called Porto di Canal Grande, with the Spigole cave that crosses the entire cliff from one side to the other.

Here the mineralizations are truly remarkable, with their splendid and particular colors, which can be identified on the schist rock walls. Also the Portu Sciusciau, always south of Cala Domestica but between the latter and the Port of Canal Grande, offers a view of singular wild charm, with its high walls of yellowish limestone, pierced by small caves and rock arches.
